5.Bi-Directional Control

During theactuation test,IM508 outputs command to the ECU in order to drive the actuators, and then determines the integrity of the system or parts by reading the ECU data, or by monitoring the operation of the actuators, such as switching an injector between two operating states. (This option is used to access vehicle-specific subsystem and component tests. Available test varies by the vehicle manufacturer, year, and model.)

Before removing each control unit and component, the bi-directional control would be a better option to locate the problems. The MaxiPRO MP808TS would be a commander instead of being an order receiver of ECU.

Q: Why does my car window cannot be rolled up?
A: There must be something wrong with window control units or window lift motor.
Q: Then, how can I tell?
A: Run a bi-directional test first. If the Autel scanner can pass through the ECU to roll the window up and down, then the problem is the window control units.

e.g. 2
Q: I couldn’t shut off the sunroof yesterday, can you give it a look.
A: Sure, after running an active test I can figure out whether the problem is sunroof control module or the motor.
Q: How that can be?
A: If the scanner can shut off the sunroof through communicating with ECU, then problem would be the control module.
